- This Sabian is damn near impossible to find. And it’s $634 new - I’m not kidding. Sabian raised their prices extensively, especially on the HH series.
-
But damn! This is one of the finest cymbals they’ve ever made! Have a listen! I ain’t gonna say it’s not worth the full pop - but you don’t have to pay all that! Far from it. And you can actually hear this one before you buy so you can buy with confidence.
- This huge, ultra warm Vanguard is the perfect blend of Ride and Crash. It’s a great one.
- It is not even designated one of the other, because it is amazing at both.
- And it’s controlled with a Mini Bell! But also has easily bendable edges. That’s kind of the genius.
-
Here is how Sabian describes this hard to find 22”:
“A thin, light design with pinpoint lathing and smaller bell, HH Vanguard is ideal for players who want darker cymbals with quick responses.
The smaller cup and extended profile delivers clean, woody stick definition for such a thin cymbal."
- And they are right, the attack is very solid for a 2215 gram 22”.
- With a featherweight of ONLY 2215 grams, this 22” plays (not surprisingly) like a terrific THIN DARK Warm Crash Ride. AN ACTUAL DARK CRASH - RIDE, or RIDE CRASH.
- The tone is an amazing mix of smooth and complex It’s Hand Hammered but not overly harsh. It remains lush and has a mellowness to it.
- And at only 2215 grams and bendable edges, this beauty is exceptionally responsive. Even a brush stroke sets it off a-rumblin.
- One of the nicest Sabian Cymbals you will find - or actually not find. I bet Sabian only makes a handful of these a year.
- No issues. Immaculate. Very hard to find - especially where you can hear it first.
