Rare ZILDJIAN THE PLAYER 20” GENE KRUPA Ride Only 1746 g PERFECT! LIGHT w/ Great Stick Attack

Here’s a very hard to find Zildjian. It’s the only one I’ve seen.

“THE PLAYER”. Yes, that’s right, conceived with the legendary Gene Krupa in mind, this 20” was forged to capture the tone and spirit of his iconic cymbal sound!  And that it does!  

Factory written “THE PLAYER 1746 g” under the bell, this gorgeous Special Edition Zildjian has an old school Traditional looking topside with the “Zildjian” logo only.  And that alone is a very rare thing for Zildjian to do, but this is a special piece.

At an extremely thin 1746 grams - which is definitely one of the thinner modern Zildjians you will come across - this 20” shocks by having a fantastic stick attack on top.  And that is not an easy feat! Usually cymbals at this weight wash out when riding but not this beauty!  

The profile is fairly steep yielding a medium broad spread that conjures sounds of yore! One might even say, the sound of Gene Krupa.

Fully lathed out to the edge on top and bottom, with even that iconic looking “lathing chatter” that you find on 1940s and 50s Zildjians.  If you’ve seen them you know what I mean.  

5” rounded over bell is certainly solid.  Downward flanged edges offer a strong projection off the attack.  Still remains extremely crashable at this weight.  

Light and airy but cuts with a great, crisp stick attack coming off the plain.  Crashes with ease at this weight.  

Amazing shape with no issues and a few test stick marks.

A great tribute to one of the most famous and iconic drummers to ever pick up sticks.  And not an easy Zildjian to find.
