- Here’s a very special piece:
- One of the rarest cataloged Paistes and it’s in amazing condition for its age! Born in 1973, this Vintage 602 SEVEN SOUND SET 18” China was very rare even when they were produced. And now it’s THIS CLEAN and over half-a-century old.
- This one must have belonged to a harmonica player because as you can see, it clean.
- Number 6 of the Paiste Seven Sound Set Collection.
- At 1467 grams this Black Label 602 sports a rounded over bell with a 2.5” PANG - style lip for a very mellow and exotic Paiste PANG tone - a rare sound in the Paiste catalog. Paiste made many chinas over the decades but not many pagoda-profiled pang cymbals.
- Extremely fine lathing. Broad spread. Mellow. Lower pitched. Exotic but not overly trashy - still Paiste clean.
- There may be one in a vault in Switzerland, but I doubt either one of us will ever find this cymbal this clean again. Edges are softer and have a natural Paiste soft alloy wave. Typical on some of their thin pangs and swishes.
- Hell, Paiste might even want to buy this one.
- For the price of a regular big box store 602, you can have an extremely rare, collectible, playable piece of Paiste history.
