  • THE ART of cymbalsmithing is blossoming! And I am thrilled to witness it with my eyes and ears!

  • Here at Hazelshould.com it’s spring eternal with unique, custom, hand hammered and hand crafted, prototypes and rare and vintage cymbals.

  • Why? Because I love them!

  • I love the art. I love the sound. I love the tradition of cymbal making. I love playing drums. And that is exactly why I am thrilled to present this gorgeous and affectionately Hand Hammered Skretas Family Cymbals 22” Light Dark Complex Ride Crash Multi Application beauty!

  • For less than a big box store K Custom Ride or Paiste, you can play something unique and beautiful while watering the art of cymbal-smithing.

  • Imagine a more complex sounding K Custom Special Dry Ride with a pinch more body and forged with the character and love of a one-cymbal-at-a-time dedication.

  • I call this sienna colored 22” a Multi Application cymbal because it rides and well as it crashes. Cymbal swells are organic and rich with an earthen undertone.

  • Have a look. Have a listen.

  • As you can see the top side of this Skretas has a mostly raw, widely lathed appearance that is reminiscent of an Agop Signature or Zildjian K Custom Special Dry. That’s the vibe but this 22” is hand made by one man and hand-signed under the bell.

  • And speaking of bell - have a look at that bell, it’s like a Mini High Bell.  It’s not as large as a rounded over bell you find on most 22s” it’s a bit smaller lending more control and stick definition however it rises HIGH off the plane giving it a bit more projection for a thin, complex 22”. And that’s a wonderful thing when crashed upon because it can explode with a lightening-like ferocity, but it dissipates quickly.

  • The plain of the cymbal is medium high yielding the perfect complexity - not super broad and out of control, but enough bright and dark tones that you can tell it’s hand made.

  • The underside sports a golden fully lathed treatment lending a subtle warmth and body that balances and tempers the dryness from the top side.

  • You can tell a pair of ears LISTENED to this cymbal before it was released. Before it was “complete.” Someone cared.  Imagine that.

  • Hand signed with the gram designation lovingly supplied under the bell.

  • Perfect for any genre from very quite to medium loud.

  • It’s a joy to play an instrument that was not only hand crafted but was made with such devotion to the craft and respect for the art.
