Rare Sabian JIA FLAT CHINA 20” John Blackwell Jr. Signature 1786 g Mellow FAST! Clean

A beautiful cymbal right here - and not an easy one to find:

Gorgeous sounding 20” SABIAN FLAT CHINA - Signature John Blackwell Jr. JIA CHINESE. He may no longer be with us but he inspired millions with his groove, energy and vivacity behind the kit!

I love Sabian’s Signature palette, they explore and experiment and have fun! And this mostly RAW FLAT China is a perfect example!  The inner 17” are unlathed, raw and heavily Hand Hammered in HH fashion while the outer 3” sports a golden lathe!

Although there’s no bell, this particular 20” has a light factory curvature over the top of the cymbal - looks like when you get just a bit up in the atmosphere and you can see the slight curve of the earth.

Add a THIN to Medium Thin 1786 gram weight and you have a very responsive FAST sounding China that opens extremely quickly and has a short decay. It has an inimitable delicate BURST to it that is much different than your standard china cymbal. But miraculously, remains mellow. The craftsmanship splits the difference between organic and dry but with a delicate, airy shimmer that’s controlled. 

Makes a killer alternate ride - compliments of that dry surface and slightly heavier weight. 

Absolutely incredible sounding cymbal that, like its inspiration, turned heads and inspired.

Fantastic shape. Not the easiest find, especially where you can hear it first!
