- For being only 2270 grams, this 22” Bosphorus proves remarkably versatile. Famously light and paper-y golden complexity that’s the sonic hallmark of their handiwork, but the wide, robust and quite capable crashability was the surprise.
- And a very solid bell - an anomaly for thinner Hand Hammered cymbals and you have a glowing 22” that covers a lot of bases on the kit.
- This particular 2270 gram 22” sounds phenomenal. We marveled at its versatility in the studio ourselves.
- A keen-eyed cymbalholic will know that this particular Bosphorus Groove Series Ride IS THE ORIGINAL STANTON MOORE RIDE - before he joined Crescent and then Sabian and now Zildjian. What the hell!!! Hahaha.
- Look at the craftsmanship - glorious Hand Hammered Traditional styled fully lathed top with an alternate wide gold/brown lathing on the underside - like the Bosphorus New Orleans Ride.
- The underside is very Sabian ARTISAN ELITE or Bosphorus New Orleans looking. And that no doubts contributes to slightly dry nature - although overall this cymbal is warmer than Sabian’s and very SMOOTH.
- At 2270 grams it indeed is crashable. Very crashable. But again, it has a light, subtle dryness baked in with the famous Bosphorus PAPER-Y complexity.
- Thin constitution yields a light airiness. Actually Hand Hammered for a beautiful warm complexity that billows from the first strike.
- Immaculate. And an especially great version of this series. A 22” sonic steal for less than a regular-ass Paiste 20” 2002 ride.
